Every trade you make whispers the secrets of your mind,

Are you ready to listen?

You know not to revenge trade; you know you must trust your setup ..

So why, with every "this time is different," does logic still surrender to the emotional roller coaster?

LET'S SEE WHY ..

Our brain has two distinct parts:

1. The reptilian brain (lower part)

  • Automatic like breathing
  • Shared with animals
  • Center of emotions

2. The human brain (upper part)

  • Voluntary like thinking, reasoning, and decision-making
  • Unique to humans
  • The famous grey matter

The reptilian brain is like an operating system; the human brain is like software installed on it.

When we know we should not make a particular trading decision but make it anyway, it is as though the software is working properly while the operating system is out of date.

The operating system does not make decisions directly, and we do not sense it at work. Yet without it, no software can run.

Let’s look inside our brain, and see what is happening there and what we can do about it.

Mindscape Terrain

This is all our brain parts in one shot, from now on we call it mindscape (our interpretation of how mind works inspired by Diffusion models and Loss Landscape, a concept in machine learning science).

The bright center is our attention, the voice in your head reading these words right now.

In its periphery lies the conscious mind; our attention can turn around and put light on one part of the conscious mind at a time.

These first two are what we called the human mind (our specific software).

But there is a wide dark unknown land surrounding these two, called the unconscious mind (the no-word reptilian mind, the operating system).

What our inner voice (thought) can find each time in conscious mind areas is produced from the unconscious mind.

Now let’s look even closer:

Our mindscape’s working unit is a terrain made up of three kinds of features: peaks, flats, and basins, each with varying degrees of steepness, height, and depth.

In machine learning, where a ball settles in a basin determines a meaningful output that is coherent with its surroundings.

Our mind-balls settle in different basins, shaping how we feel.

Because each of us has a distinct terrain pattern, we respond similarly to similar situations—for example, different people may reach different conclusions about the same market move.

Now that we share a common understanding of how deeply intertwined our brain parts are, we can see why simply knowing that revenge trading is wrong is not enough.

Is it possible to correct these flawed decisions? Yes.

Is it fast? No.

But it is achievable and deeply rewarding—just as many have successfully done before.

A dark landscape crossed by luminous paths leading in different directions

Because each of us has a unique mindscape, we need different paths to improve our trading decisions.

We are a group of Iranian psychiatrists with a shared interest in markets, models, and making connections.

Whether your mindscape calls for a subtle adjustment or deeper, more comprehensive work, we have the tools to help.
